Pentland Skerries high and dry!
« on: February 28, 2015, 11:34:29 pm »
Hi Scotflight team,
With FSX only, the Pentland Skerries area shows as open sea.
With Generation X Vol 5 added, The Skerries are in place in the sea.
With Scotflight for FSX V3.0 also added, the Skeries are in place, complete with lighthouse, but standing in a large area of generic looking dry land.

The same situation applies to Stroma.

Any suggestions?  The attached jpg's may help.

Regards,
Islehopper.

Hi

This problem has been highlighted before,  but some time ago.
I would ask if you have some third party terrain/vector product installed and if so is that product placed higher in your scenery library than the GenX areas.  If this is the case then moving the product down the order could solve the problem.

Hi Iain,
thanks for the response. I have found that disabling Scotflight Coast in the Scenery Library removes the unwanted land and everything looks OK.
What will I miss if I leave it disabled?

Islehopper.

At the risk of getting my fingers rapped by Iain - when you install V3.0 of Scotflight, it says uninstall old version AND Scotflight RAF.  The RAF or maybe the old version (one or both have the Coast folder) is no longer needed as RAF incorporated in the main  version 3.0.

The dodgy scenery is probably the old Coast - as you've found and perhaps others from them.  Uninstall all Scotflight (after disabling in Scenery Library).  Remove Scenery Library entries.  Install Version 3.  Voila!

Hi

I misunderstood the problem when previously replying.
There is indeed a problem if the scenery is installed in the way indicated and the problem was set to continue with our forthcoming update as we had obviously not looked at that particular scenery set up.
I have made some changes to our own coastline files which appear to sort this out.  Hopefully some further testing will confirm my findings.
We are hoping to have our update available very shortly,  so I would look out for this being available,  after which hopefully everything in that area will be okay.

The update will be free for existing version3 customers and should give a high level of compatibility with all versions of P3D.  There are also some additional small airfields added to our Standard version and a couple of very nicely enhanced areas added to both our Standard and Photo versions

Apologies if I've confused matters then.  I don't seem to have the problem and but I don't have Scotflight Coast either in my unmodified 3.0 . . . is this a folder I should have?

thanks

Hi Iaing and birdmanmike,
thanks both for your suggestions. Disabling Scotflight Coast seems to work OK and I am happy to wait for your update. You mention P3D. I can't remember what this is but I don't think iv'e got it.
Just saying.

Islehopper.

Hi

Just to clarify,  if you have an all photo set up then you won't have any Scotflight Coast files.

Also just to say that although I highlighted P3D compatibility being available with our forthcoming update,  the scenery is still very much compatible with FSX and all additions will work equally well in both simulators.

Hi Iaing,
sorry, I should have detailed my setup. I have:
Windows 7
FSX Gold Edition
Generation X Vol.5
Scotflight for FSX V3.0
Scotflight RAF Collection V 1.4

This gives me 10 Scenery entries in the Scenery Library, including Scotflight Coast, all at highest priority, 1 to 10.
Disabling Coast resolves the problem.

Regards,
Islehopper.

Hi Islehopper

Version 3.1 is now available as a free download for existing version 3.0 users.
With this new version in place you will be able to use the Scotflight Coast files.
Your particular set up of the scenery has been tested with this new version.

Hi Iain,
thanks for that. Should have given my setup to start with!
Installed V3.1, flew from Kirkwall to Lossiemouth and all is looking good.

Islehopper.
